Robbie Neilson sacked- football catches the last train to the coast, the day Hearts dream died. #Hearts #SPFL #TynecastlePie

I have made no secret of the fact that I believed Robbie Neilson, with the right financial backing, would have brought the Premiership flag back to Tynecastle.

Now that dream has died, brutally murdered by a Board that hadn’t got the courage to stand up to the baying mob.

The writing was on the wall in January, when the weak-kneed Board could not find a few £hundred thousand to bring Callum Paterson back to the club.

Instead, two more loan signings, when their manager had said last season he didn’t want such temporary measures.

The back-stabbing has been worthy of Shakespeare, with the biggest knife in Mrs Budge’s hand.

She begged Robbie to come back to Hearts – and then betrayed him.

The Hearts Board had this planned.

Have you seen Steven Naismith standing beside Steve Clarke at recent Scotland matches?

I don’t blame Steven – he was a great player and leader and has massive potential as a manager – but the cynicism of the Hearts Board is beyond belief.

Quick. Let’s sack him before the Hibs match – because if he wins that one, we won’t be able to fire him!

If Steven Naismith has any sense, he will sit down with James Anderson – not Mrs Budge; she is history – and agree with him how much of HIS money is going to be made available to sign players in the Summer.

If the number is less then £20 million, Steven, do NOT take the job.

James Anderson has now got to prove he meant what he said when he claimed recently that there should be no limit to Hearts ambitions.

And proving it requires money – a lot of it!

Failing that investment, Hearts will remain competitive only amongst 10 hopeless Also Rans, looking up at the Old Firm, 40 points or more above.

Next year, Hearts are due to “celebrate” their 150th birthday.

Celebrate not winning the league for 64 years?

NOT ME.

If James Anderson doesn’t step up HIS game NOW, there will be nothing to celebrate, next year or EVER.

Over to you, James….
