Too many in Scotland, including apparently Ryan Stevenson, accept the humiliating domination of Scottish football by Celtic and Rangers.
And believe it will go on FOREVER.
37 long seasons have passed since another club won the Premiership.
No other league in Europe has suffered the same fate over the same timeline.
The media, including Sky Sports, seem delighted to perpetuate the subjugation of the other Premiership clubs.
They love the historic and poisonous animosity between the two Glasgow clubs.
Hearts, under the leadership of Robbie Neilson, have set out to knock Celtic and Rangers off their perches.
The Hearts manager has made clear the process will take three or more seasons BUT he believes it can eventually lead to new champions of the Premiership.
Hearts now have the third best squad in Scottish football BUT injuries have robbed the club of more than half their first choice players.
Set backs like this are bound to be encountered over the next few seasons.
The important aspect is that everyone connected with Hearts MUST believe in the path that is being followed.
It will be difficult to hold our nerve, to see this vital mission through.
BUT, if we do so, Hearts can ultimately end the Glasgow domination of the Scottish game.
I wish Robbie and his men well.
Be clear, however.
Should Celtic and Rangers NOT be knocked off their perches through on-field activity, off-field changes will be required.
I have outlined several potential changes previously on this website.
Let’s hope Robbie Neilson can be Hearts Ferguson.
If not, it may be lawyers, not managers, who eventually restore competition to the currently stagnant Premiership.
One way or another, the Duopoly WILL be ended.
Time for Change.
