It looks like Hearts will be receiving between £1.5 and £2 million as a result of the 15% sell-on clause in Hickeys contract.
This is an unbudgeted windfall needs to be invested in two new signings.
Two players Hearts could sign are Simms and Connor Ronan. The Hickey windfall will cover the relatively small transfer fees involved, as well as contributing to wage costs.
Hearts need to invest this “extra” revenue in the player squad.
