The depressing reality of Rangers’ is NOT a six month “hex” they and Celtic have over the Also Rans – it is the 37 seasons since any other club won the Premiership! #SPFL #Celtic #Rangers #Hearts #ScottishFootball

The Scotsman and Herald – and, indeed, the rest of the mainstream Scottish media – occasionally throw in an article like the one below.

In the article, reference is made to the fact that no other club has been able to beat Celtic or Rangers for 6 months.

6 months?

The harsh reality, as this website has been making clear since its inception two years ago, is that it is 37 SEASONS since Celtic or Rangers failed to win the Premiership – and no end is in sight to this awful domination, unique in European football.

We have identified a number of measures that could be taken BUT the Scottish media, instead of getting behind a campaign for radical change, prefers to wallow in despair. They offer no solutions.

You can find the potential solutions I have offered in this blog.

The Scottish media have shown no interest in any of the solutions I have suggested. Nor have they offered any of their own.

Do the media actually want the arguably illegal duopoly to continue?

Given the lack of support for a campaign to bring about meaningful change, the answer seems to be a resounding “YES”.

I have noted before that I believe Hearts have a glimmer of hope of mounting a serious challenge for the Premiership title over the next two or three seasons.

I retain that belief – but I also accept how far Hearts still have to improve, which was made so obvious yesterday at Hampden.

To my mind, 37 must NOT be allowed to get to 40, 40 seasons with only two names as winners of the Premiership.

If 40 IS reached, I believe action will have to be taken off-the-pitch to bring about change.

Such action may have to include court proceedings to expose and end the duopoly that is so badly damaging Scottish football – and the Public Interest.

Meantime, I will continue to highlight any improvements Hearts and other clubs make on the field, whilst also exposing the pathetic acceptance by the media of the current situation. They bear a significant share of the blame that Scotland has suffered almost four decades of sporting misery.

Time for Change.
