Whilst all Hearts supporters delighted in the 2012 demolition of their Edinburgh rivals, those same supporters also knew it was the end of an era.
The curtain was about to come down on Romanovs “reign” at Tynecastle and the Hearts team that appeared at Hampden was never seen again.
Next Saturday will see more than 20,000 Hearts supporters travel to Glasgow for a very inconvenient 12.15 kick off.
The difference is that this massive contingent of supporters is not travelling to see a curtain fail.
This time they know that they are witnessing the start of a new Golden Era for Hearts.
How good is the current squad?
Time will tell the full story. Let’s just comment for now that this group of players, which can be further strengthened in the Summer, has the potential to be the best – and most successful – since the 1950’s.
They stand on the verge of greatness, close to being able to reach out to grasp legendary status.
Led by Robbie Neilson and his coaches – and with player recruitment spearheaded by Joe Savage – Hearts CAN end the duopoly that has strangled the life out of Scottish football for nearly four decades.
Hearts supporters are daring to BELIEVE.
They are right to do so.
