I quote from this article, referring to John Souttar and the “Big Stage”:
“But it also underlines the fact that he belongs on that stage.
His all-round performance – he was an absolute colossus at the back – will have done absolutely nothing to deter the likes of Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough”
These clubs are NOT the “Big Stage”; they are from the lower divisions in England.
Yes. The wages are much higher.
BUT JS would win NOTHING with such clubs.
Does John want to end his career having won ZERO?
Surely NOT!
If JS gives Hearts another full season, he can win trophies PLUS earn big bonuses for getting the club into the Champions League.
So Hearts need to enhance his deal NOW, with a commitment to bonuses based on the clubs earnings from European qualification.
John could still leave in 2023, if he wishes.
He will be 27 years old then – in his prime.
Hearts need John Souttar; and he needs to win trophies in his career.
A new deal can give both parties what they need.
Time for Change.
