Hearts squad is best since 2006? No. It is the best since 1960. #SPFL #ScottishFootball #Hearts

Hearts have not won Scotlands top league since 1960.

Apart from in 1985/86, when they got within 7 minutes of winning the title, Hearts have not been close to the ultimate triumph.

Some of us now call that much sought after triumph “The Dream”.

Hearts have won three Scottish Cups in the last 60 years – but that is not good enough for the third best supported club in Scotland; not nearly good enough.

In the last 36 seasons, only two names have appeared on the Premiership list of winners – Celtic and Rangers. This duopoly has left Scottish football looking ludicrously uncompetitive.

It cannot be allowed to continue.

Today, something historic is stirring at Tynecastle.

A challenge for the Scottish Premiership Title.

It may not succeed this season – but, if not, it can do so in 2022/23.

Everywhere one looks at the current crop of around 20 players in the first team squad, a class act is to be found.

A brilliant international goal keeper; wonderful centre and full backs; a midfield combo of Cammy and Beni, which is in itself a dream; an array of dazzling talent up front, including sparkling wide players.

The only shortfall?

No proven goal scorer at centre forward to support/rival Liam Boyce.

However, a rearrangement of roles on Saturday meant that Hearts found a way to score five goals without their international striker.

Putting Saturday to one side, perhaps a new centre forward can be signed in January, to further strengthen the talent pool available to manager Robbie Neilson.

However, there is the option of bringing Euan Henderson back from his loan spell at Alloa. He is scoring goals and this Hearts Academy graduate could be the answer.

As you can see, there are few questions that need to asked about the current crop of players in Gorgie.

So the best squad since 2006?

NO

The best since the last time the league was won, six decades ago.

So, finally, can ” The Dream” become a reality?

Ask the thousands of Hearts supporters who stayed after the match on Saturday to give their players a standing ovation.

What are they daring to do?

BELIEVE.

Time for Change.
