Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee and Dundee United :Henry McLeish wrongly accuses clubs of ‘self interest’. #SPFL #ScottishFootball #Hearts #Hibs #Aberdeen #Dundee #DundeeUnited #Celtic #Rangers

Henry McLeish is quite wrong.

The problems in Scottish Football are 1) the stranglehold Celtic and Rangers have had across four decades and 2) the reluctance of the boards of smaller clubs to lift their eyes from issues concerning their day-to-day survival.

Since any club outside Glasgow won the Premiership – in 1985 – the five clubs taking this initiative have spent over £1 Billion, if you include the money supporters have invested in match tickets and associated costs.

That £1 Billion has been poured down the drain, because the clubs concerned have got nowhere near being realistic challengers to the Glasgow duopoly.

I believe this move by the Big 5 Also Rans is the first step in challenging the duopoly off the pitch.

Every long march starts with one step, so the clubs are to be congratulated on their initiative.

They need to move quickly.

Now. In 2021.

Time for Change.
