Domestic football, strangled by a duopoly which has operated across four decades, no longer provides the quality of players needed to succeed in any meaningful way in World Cups.
The manager is doing the best he can with half a tool kit.
The tool kit will only becomes adequate when the competitiveness of Scottish football is restored.
