Kristoffer Ajer: Celtic lose a top player to BRENTFORD?! #Celtic #Rangers #SPFL #ScottishFootball

If you want to understand the decline of Scottish football, it’s easy.

Just focus your thoughts on this transfer.

Brentford, a club that hasn’t been in the top flight of English football since 1935, are now in the EPL. Their stay will almost certainly be limited to one season.

Brentford have a brand new stadium which has a capacity of roughly 30% of Celtic Park.

Brentford will win no trophy this season or any other season. They have no hope of qualifying for any European tournament and as much chance of playing in the Champions League as Brechin.

A lovely little club Brentford may be – but that’s all.

BUT this tiny no-hope-of-winning-anything club can STILL lure away one of Celtics best players.

Some will say it is only the money the player wants. Some will claim he can showcase his talents in London, leading to a better transfer later. Perhaps the bright lights of London itself are the beacon attracting him?

However, the simple truth is that he is fed up with the boring two-horse race, where 1st makes you a hero and 2nd a zero. Fed up too no doubt with the undercurrents of differences between the Big Two which date back centuries and never change for the better.

The Also Rans in Scotland – and, specifically, their hapless and hopeless Boards – have allowed this to go on. Weak men and women, unable to muster the courage to challenge and defeat an illegal and destructive duopoly.

The Boards need to find their courage to force the Old Firm to accept the required changes.

NOW. In 2021.

Time for Change.
