The fee paid for Carl leaves Celtic with a cool £10 million surplus on the fee they received from Brentford for Ajer.
Celtic have made four signings so far since their new manager came on board. None of them look of the standard required to improve the clubs league position by one place in season 2021/22.
Celtic didn’t have to sign anyone to remain in 2nd place. That is their inevitable position if they fail to finish above Rangers.
The awful inevitability of it all is the overriding factor.
The Old Firm always provide the winners in the league; 90% + of the time, they also provide the runners-up.
This has gone on for 36 years and will continue forever in the absence of radical action.
