Hearts teenager Finlay Pollock impresses – actually, the whole team impresses! #Hearts #SPFL #ScottishFootball

Robbie Neilson has always been marmite for Hearts supporters.

Some of us love him; others, for a reason that genuinely escapes me, have no time for him.

To my mind, Robbie is a winner. But more than that, he wants to see his teams play the right way.

Robbie hasn’t always had the players he needs to play the pressing, fast, attacking football he favours. When he has to, he can make do with scraps of talent on the playing side and use them to grind out results.

However, on the admittedly limited evidence available this season to date, the Hearts manager has found a blend of youth and experience, a blend that has the potential to produce the expansive football he wants to see his teams producing.

Robbie is hoping for a few additional signings. Let’s hope he gets them.

I do not believe that Robbie can produce a team to win the league – or even seriously challenge the duopoly that has damaged Scottish football so badly over the last 36 years.

I wish I was wrong.

If the changes are made which Scottish Football Matters is looking for, changes in the finances and structure of the Premiership, Robbie WOULD have a real chance of leading Hearts to that elusive title.

62 years is long enough to wait.

Time for Change.
