It was considered a national disgrace that Scotland’s National Team, before Euro 2020, had not qualified for the finals of any competition since the World Cup in 1998.
How could this happen? How could the spiritual home of World football fail to produce a National Team fit for purpose?
And yet, in reality, the biggest disgrace in Scottish football is that, for all the heritage to which many refer constantly for comfort, the Scottish Premiership has been won by the same two clubs for the last 36 seasons.
No other league on the planet has been the victim of such an obvious and damaging duopoly.
This goes beyond being a sporting matter.
A duopoly is assumed to be illegal UNLESS it can be proven to operate in the Public Interest.
What Celtic and Rangers have done is only in the interests of themselves and the Old Firm brand.
The duopoly must be swept away.
NOW. In 2021.
Time for Change.
