Steve Clarke and his team DID give Scotland supporters a little hope – and some thrills.
Unfortunately, after 36 years of only Celtic or Rangers winning the Scottish Premiership, all hope has long ago died in that non-competition.
The supporters of the Also Rans keep turning up and paying their money but they have no expectations that this season will be any better than last season – or the 35 before that.
For hope to be restored – and any thrills to be had – major revisions are needed to the finances and structure of Scottish football.
