At least Scotland WERE the Brave!
Outclassed, perhaps – BUT never out-fought.
Sadly, however, few of the players wearing the blue of Scotland actually play in the Scottish Premiership.
Hardly surprising, when the Also Rans can never muster the bravery of the National team in their feeble attempts to win the Premiership title.
Faced with no hope to winning anything in Scotland and the low wages dictated by the stagnant economics of the Premiership, good players either join Celtic or Rangers or – more often than not – leave Scotland.
But they seldom leave to go to top clubs elsewhere.
Hearts yesterday lost their top young player to a third tier German club and it is commonplace to see Scottish “talent” drop down to the same level in English football.
In reality, the fate of Scotland’s National team mirrors that of the Premiership itself.
Uncompetitive for 36 years, the Old Firm Premiership duopoly has weakened every aspect of Scottish football, including the ability of Scotland to be viable in the European Championship and World Cup.
The economics and structure of the Scottish Premiership need to be radically altered.
NOW. In 2021.
Time for Change.
