Jack Walker was a local Blackburn boy who made good – VERY good – in the steel industry.
And Jack didn’t sit counting next money.
He bought his local football club – he had supported them all his life – and made it his mission to win the English Premier League.
He delivered on that mission.
Jack Walker is the owner on which Scotland’s rich club Chairs should model themselves.
David Cormack at Aberdeen; Ron Gordon at Hibs; Mark Ogren at Dundee United – to name only three.
These men are very wealthy and no doubt had limitless ambition in their business lives – yet their football ambition seems limited to a continuation of the role of Also Ran for their respective clubs.
These powerful men – and other Scottish Club Chairs – need to work together to break the Old Firm duopoly that has been ruining Scottish football for the last 36 years.
These leaders need to be radical; they need to think the previously unthinkable.
In short, they need to be like Jack Walker.
NOW, in 2021.
Time for Change
