James McPake has done a very good job to get Dundee promoted.
Being beaten 6:2 by Hearts in the first league match of the season was not a fairytale beginning – but things improved.
So Dundee, last winners of the top league in 1962, replace Kilmarnock, who last won in 1965.
In aggregate, 113 years without a league title win.
So what can we expect of Dundee next season?
Nothing.
They will simply become one of the 10 perpetual Also Rans, with as little chance of winning the league as landing on Mars.
Only radical changes will get Dundee back to the role of true challengers, a role they enjoyed so brilliantly in the early 1960’s.
James McPake deserves better than reaching the peak of his career in a promotion/relegation play-off.
Time for Change.
