Eddie Howe has some work to do to give Celtic a chance of winning the Two Horse Race with Rangers to win the Scottish Premiership next season.
He will be given £20 to £30 million by the Celtic Board to fund strengthening the First Team Squad.
Not a bad ” tool kit” for EH to use to go about his work.
Meantime, the ten Also Rans, hope destroyed by the 36 year Celtic/Rangers duopoly, prepare to resume their role of Whipping Boys in August.
The financial arrangements and structure of the Premiership “competition” have rendered the other clubs impotent to challenge for the title.
Instead of only Howe receiving funding, Celtic – and Rangers – should be paying the SPFL £20 million per season to fund the other clubs in the structure.
This would effectively be a repayment of the £700 million + the Old Firm have earned since being allowed to keep 100% of their home gate receipts since 1980.
The £700 million has been used to create and sustain the disastrous duopoly.
In addition, the Premiership needs to revert to clubs facing each other only twice per season. The four times schedule, with the potential to lose 24 points to the Old Firm each season, has greatly assisted the maintenance of the Two Horse Race.
These changes are needed NOW. In 2021.
Time for Change.
