Celtic and Rangers can exit immediately – but they can only go when the deal on tv revenue is struck.
Scottish football – with the Old Firm gone – requires 1% of UK football total tv revenue, including overseas rights, each season ; or £50 million, whichever is the higher.
This financial injection can see the top league in Scotland return to the Golden Age Standard ( 1950 to 1965), when there were SEVEN different winners of the top league.
SEVEN in 16 years; TWO in the last 36 years.
Which do YOU prefer?
The new financing can also ensue the future of the lower division clubs, enabling more to go full-time and become more competitive.
So all 40 current Scottish SPFL clubs – the current “also rans” trailing in the wake of the Old Firm – can benefit from the injection of funds.
Perhaps some more of the Highland and Lowland League clubs can be funded to join the SPFL.
Exciting times!
Time for Change
