The UK governments anger over the mooted European Super League has led to an acceleration of an inquiry into how football is run in England.
The question arises that if an inquiry is needed in England, how much greater is the need for one in Scotland.
In the same 36 year period since 1985, during which time the Celtic and Rangers duopoly has dominated Premiership, there have been no fewer than NINE different winners of the top league in England.
Three of those champions were Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City, clubs not counted amongst the games elite, but still able to compete with the giants of English football.
Meantime, in Scotland , clubs like Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs, which arguable have a much higher relative status than particularly Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City, have failed dismally to mount a realistic challenge to the Old Firm.
In aggregate, the three Scottish clubs have gone 168 years without winning the top league in Scottish football.
I have written to Nicola Sturgeon this week highlighting the uncompetitive nature of the Premiership and the damage being done by the Glasgow based duopoly.
Ms Sturgeon is a very powerful person. She can act without delay to help force through the required changes to restore competition in the Premiership.
Time for action, not words.
Time for Change.
