Scotsman restarts the “in a row” game, which is a curse on Scottish football

This article in the Scotsman is headlined “Five players Gers could target to continue dominance over Celtic”.

Although later reference is made to dominance over the rest of Scottish football, this second reference is simply paying lip-service to the myth the Scottish media actively promote that the Celtic/Rangers duopoly that has destroyed competition in the Premiership does not exist.

Jack Ross at Hibs is the latest decent young manager who is being touted as the man who can mount a challenge to the Old Firm domination. Recent articles have suggested that Hibs are having one of the best seasons in their history, a history that now includes a 69 year chasm of a gap since the club last won the top league title.

69 years is almost half of Hibs entire lifespan as a club.

Jack Ross has ZERO chance of ending that 69 year wait. The media pretending that he does will simply mean his sacking for failure will come sooner rather than later.

This website is promoting something different to the myths so beloved of the Scottish media.

Radical change is needed NOW – this close season – to end the domination of our national sport by two clubs.

Celtic and Rangers must be presented with an invoice for £40 Million. Each year they will be required to pay £20 Million per club into a fund that will be shared 35/5 between the remaining Premiership clubs and the lower league teams.

The second change that needs to be forced through is a return to the top tier clubs only playing each other twice per season. The four times a season schedule currently in place has been a big factor in helping the Old Firm crush any potential serious competition from the “also rans”.

The third change we advocate is a move to a handicap system in the Premiership, with the winners starting on a minus points basis the following season. The minus points position would increase with every successive win. This could eliminate the curse of “in a row”, which has become the only talking point of interest in the boring duopoly.

We are prepared to see this third change postponed for at least one season if the first two changes are implemented immediately.

The duopoly MUST be torn apart NOW. 36 years of hurt is enough pain for the rest of the clubs.

Time for Change.
