Scottish Football hasn’t got time for Hibs owner Ron Gordon to formulate his “plan for success”

Hibs owner Ron Gordon says the club need to be conservative over the next couple of years.

Hibs haven’t won the top league for 69 years or even finished second in the last 46 years.

That’s the level of success achieved through a consistently conservative approach to managing the clubs finances.

The reality is that Hibs cutting their cloth based on the current financial arrangements within Scottish Football is NOT going to improve on the record of the last seven decades.

Radical changes are needed, with Celtic and Rangers giving up some of their relatively high revenue to assist the funding of the other clubs.

£40 million a year will be needed from the Old Firm, shared among the other clubs.

The Glasgow giants will resist but the fact is that they having been sucking the life out of Scotland’s national sport since 1980, the year they forced through rule changes which allowed them to keep 100% of their home gate receipts.

That insane decision – as far as the other clubs were concerned – condemned the other 10 clubs in the Premiership to the role of permanent “also rans”.

Today, the 10 are barely running at all. They limp from season to season, rearranging the deck chairs while they sink deeper into a mire of mediocrity.

Time for Change.
